Today it is quite fashionable to buy local. There are lots of farmers markets in Waldo County that have developed over the years. But long before that, back 30-40 years ago, Bayside had Eli. Eli Cobb lived in Northport and had a garden on Prescott Hill Road. During the summer months Eli would ride around the village selling his fresh vegetables 'just picked these peas this morning; corn will be ready in a couple of weeks,' etc. He was a great Maine character. These photos were taken in the late 70s—notice the real fancy sign on the window of his Volkswagen.”2011-05-04 Eli Cobb, submitted by Tim Samway. “Here is a photo of Bayside from yesteryear.
