Going from Key West to Mexico via the waters just north of Cuba was a very pleasant run. We have thoroughly enjoyed what we have seen of Central America. This picture was taken when we entered the Rio Dulce in Guatemala. This coming Wednesday (4/8) we have a good weather window to point the bow north toward Mexico. We'll ride the Gulf Stream home as much as we can. Can't wait for a Bayside visit this summer.”

2009-07-16 Raw Faith, photographed by Lisa Webster Tuesday evening as the three-masted ship “coasted” in front of our Shore Road before anchoring overnight. As of Wednesday evening, the Raw Faith was still there, adding a very mystical quality to the view of the bay, and given that it’s got no engine and a history of breaking down, it may remain for awhile! The ship has an eerie “raised from the deep” look to it, as if she might have been a prop in some horror movie or Pirates of the Caribbean, and she’s apparently created some controversy (especially in her home port of Rockland). 2009-07-30 Ready for Pancakes, a view of the new kitchen in the Community Hall to be christened for the Annual NYC Pancake Breakfast this Sunday from 8-10 AM. Per photographer Art Hall, “The Community Hall kitchen has been upgraded to a first-rate facility. New cabinets and counter tops, new floor, new faucet for the sink, new sliding rear wall window, reglazed and painted existing window, nearly new cook stove, improved electrical service, fresh paint on the walls and a real touch of tradition with varnished bead board paneling. All made possible by volunteer labor and largely financed though cash donations and materials.” Many thanks to Dick and Marge Brockway, Art Hall, Steve Kazilionis and Rob Sherman for their time and efforts and to the donors that made this possible. 2009-07-31 Garden Party Preview by Dan Webster. Friends and neighbors enjoyed a beautiful summer evening at last year’s Garden Party, sponsored by the Bayside Garden Club. This year’s Garden Party happens this Saturday, August 1, at 5:30 at the Websters’ home (746 Shore Road, shortly before Kelly Cove). The current weather forecast is 76 degrees and sunny, which would make it one of the few beautiful evenings this summer, so don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the view, enjoy the company and enjoy the weather.
2009-07-31 Brad Williams' Cottage Fire by Angela Cassidy. A major house fire this morning around 7 AM at the home of Brad Williams on Shore Road, directly across from Kelly Cove. Both the Northport and Belfast Fire Departments responded and successfully contained the fire to the single property. Unfortunately, the home was destroyed.

Nineteen Bayside friends of Peter Allen drove to Bangor, braved the pouring rain and cool temps ( in the low 50s), and walked the 5K. Patti Wright made plaid sashes for 'Pete's Team' that said "Oh, for the love of Pete". Special acknowledgement to Maeve LeClair and Harry Homans for their hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm. This past month the two youthful entrepreneurs had a lemonade stand and donated the proceeds, over $400, to ALS. They led the way for "Team Pete".

It was then I visualized the sailboat picture. After I got home, I glued the pieces together, and varnished the whole thing. It’s only about 6x8 inches, but makes a nice remembrance of our 2009 Bayside visit.”
