Maine Photography: A History, 1840-2015 (Penobscot Marine Museum, Searsport; 5:30 PM). Book signing and talk with authors Libby Bischof, Susan Danly, and Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr. Free admission. Meet the historians behind the book Maine Photography: A History, 1840-2015 and explore with them the origins of Maine's rich photographic traditions; the rise of a fine-art photographic tradition; and the evolution of a thriving contemporary photo scene. Belfast Summer Nights Concert Series (Corner High and Main Streets, Belfast; 5:30-7:30 PM) As always, free. Performing this week: Bridget Matros, followed by the Mostly Brothers Band. Bridget Matros enjoys a promising and fruitful performing/recording career as a singer songwriter. The Mostly Brothers Band (Sean & Jamie Oshami & Alex Wilder) will play Folk, Pop, Soul and Reggae. At 5:15 PM, there will be a short "Summer Parade" for all ages. Prizes for the best summer costume.

Antique Paper (and Postcard) Show (First Congressional Church Vestry, 11 Church Street, Searsport; 8:30 AM-3 PM). A sampling of historic images from Penobscot Marine Museum's collection of over 140,000 photographs will be available at the Maine 2016 Antique Paper Show. In connection with this year's show, Associate Professor of History and Department Chair at the University of Southern Maine, Libby Bischof will be conducting her Maine Postcard Project on campus. You will be able to write postcards to friends and family using postcards designed by Bischof featuring historic and contemporary images of Maine. Cost: $2. Northport Yacht Club Sailing School Starts (NYC Clubhouse; Registration at 9 AM) Weekly program offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings throughout the summer. All children 9 and older may participate for a week or for the whole summer. Swimming test is required for new students. Report to the NYC Clubhouse by 9 AM Monday, with a personal flotation device if you have one. Belfast Historical Society Program: "The Maine Home Front in World War I" (Abbott Room, Belfast Free Library; 7 PM) Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr., Maine State Historian, will present an illustrated lecture documenting the role played by Maine men and women in World War I, especially here at home. Previous unseen photographs, many of them real photo postcards of the period, tell the story of recruitment, troop departures, parades, bond drives, shipbuilding, war-related industries, and knitting socks for soldiers. This chapter in Maine's past comes alive in these century-old pictures. For more information on this free program, visit www.belfastmuseum.org.
