Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory Open (Prospect). Open through late October. The Fort Knox State historic site features one of America's best-preserved examples of seacoast fortifications constructed in the 1800s. Observatory hours are 9-5, except in July and August when it's open until 6 PM. The fort is open 9 AM to sunset. More information available at

Belfast Garden Club members and friends dig and divide their own perennial flowers and shrubs and pot them to sell at this fundraiser for the club.  Garden centers, nurseries, and greenhouses in the area also donate blooming annuals to sell. The Moving Wall (Knox Museum, Thomaston; 24 Hours/Day) Knox Museum will host the Vietnam Combat Veterans' The Moving Wall, a half-scale replica of Maya Lin's original design located on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Visiting hours will be 24 hours per day, except during special ceremonies. Admission is free, and all are encouraged to attend. This will be its first appearance in midcoast Maine.
