Overseers Meeting

August 31, 2008

Meeting called to order at 8:00 AM by President Huntoon.

The President recognized Alden Badershall. As per Alden Badershall’s request Judy Metcalf motioned to give permission to move the Nokomis Cottage temporarily into Merrithew Square Park while a foundation is built, seconded by Steve Kazilionis  – Voted all in favor. 

Peter Allen nominated Marge Brockway to Chairperson of the Overseers, Judy Metcalf seconded – Voted all in favor.

Committee Assignments:

   Communications Committee Chairperson – Maureen Stalla accepted.

    Facilities Committee Chairperson – Marge Brockway accepted.

    Finance Committee Chairperson – Bill Cressey gave a brief description of the responsibilities of this post.  Steve Kazilionis volunteered to be chair and was accepted.

    Ned Lightner & Lee Houghton

   Safety Committee Chairperson – Peter Allen accepted.

   Surface Runoff Chairperson – Lee Houghton accepted.

   Town of Northport Liaison – Peter Allen accepted.

   Tree Warden – Jane Phillips.

   Utility Trustees Appointed – (Three Needed);

        Judy Metcalf – currently serving

        Ned Lightner – accepted

        Peter Allen – accepted

   Wharfmaster – Gordon Fuller.

   Finance Manager – Bill Cressey explained the need for having this position filled as soon as possible and suggested that he be acting Finance Manager until the position was filled.  Judy Metcalf moved that Bill Cressey be appointed Acting Finance Manager, Peter Allen seconded – Voted all in favor.  It was decided to advertise immediately for the position in several newspapers.

Minutes Judy Metcalf moved to accept the minutes for the August 10, 2008 meeting, seconded by Marge Brockway – Voted all in favor.

Treasurer Report

Bill Cressey discussed the financial reports and their content and pointed out that he will be changing the presentation in the future. 

Judy Metcalf requested more payment dates on the report as a reminder of upcoming expenses. 

Bill suggested that we have copies of the financial reports for the visitors so they can follow along at the meeting. 

Jo explained the budget process and the timing of the General budget as apposed to the Utilities budget.  Crofoot expressed a need for the Treasurer and Overseers to participate in the Utility budget process.  Jo pointed out that that would be one of the functions of the Finance Manager.

Village Agent

Bill Paige reported that the No Right Turn signs in front of Blair’s will be put up next spring.

The Swim Float will be taken out September 15^th.  Needs some work for next spring.

There is still a septic odor coming from the Durkee residence on Bluff Road .

Safety

Judy Metcalf has a letter from MMA Risk Management about some of our documentation and procedures or lack there of.  They performed a site visit in May and this is the result of that.  She will respond to that letter.

Peter Allen presented a resident’s concern about fires on the beach near her house.

Future Meetings

President Huntoon set the next Overseers meeting to September 14, 2008 at 9:00 AM.

Marge Brockway moved to adjourn – Voted All in Favor.

Meeting adjourned at 9:35AM.
