Friday Morning Pickleball (Ruggles Park Basketball Court; 8:30-10 AM) Pickleball has arrived in Bayside! Come and join in the fun on Friday mornings. All ages and abilities are welcome. Belfast Harbor Fest and National Boatbuilding Challenge (Steamboat Landing) Help the waterfront come alive with a unique display of talent and good old-fashioned competition. Right before your eyes, teams of two will be handcrafting a 12-foot wooden skiff. As the sawdust starts to settle, the teams will sprint their boats out onto the salty sea and then row to the finish line (or in one case last year, sinking) for all to see. Union Fair (Union Fairgrounds, Union) Classic, rural fair (one of the oldest in Maine), celebrating all aspects of agriculture, including a wild blueberry festival. Events include harness racing; old fashioned pig scramble; wild blueberry pie baking and eating contests; horse, oxen, and tractor pulls; fireworks; sheep shearing contest; 4-H exhibits; carnival; entertainment; and more. Talk by Dick Baldwin, Founder of Educational Passages (NYC Clubhouse; 4:30 PM) Educational Passages' mission is to provide exciting, hands-on, multi-disciplinary learning experiences for students of all ages. To date, 85 GPS-monitored mini sailboats, personalized by students all over the world, have been launched; each having a story, some of which will be presented. A $10 donation is expected at the door. Beer & wine will be available. Sponsored by the Philanthropic Educational Organization.

Barnstormers Ball (Owl’s Head Transportation Museum, Owl’s Head; 6 PM) Don your finest 1920s-inspired evening wear and dance the night away at OHTM! In 2016, more than 200 people enjoyed live music, great food and libations set amid our world-class collection of ground vehicles and aircraft. Frederick Wiseman's 1999 documentary "Belfast, Maine" (Colonial Theatre, Belfast; 2 PM) The well-known filmmaker will be on hand for a post-screening interview and Q&A. Tickets are available in advance for $9 by calling (207) 338-1975. The documentary, filmed in the fall of 1996, runs 249 minutes.
